Our Client
We were asked by our leading music industry client to devise and implement a safety and security plan for a three-day outdoor music festival attracting in excess of 30,000 people per day. The lineup for the festival featured some of the most popular and prominent bands from around the world.
OUR CHALLENGE
Each music festival has its own history, culture, devoted fan base, location, and distinct requirements. This festival included campgrounds where patrons stayed overnight. We also had to be cognizant of possible tornado weather conditions and have a plan in place should such a situation arise. The notion of “one size fits all” fails to consider the personality and challenges of each festival. Our plans had to be fiscally sound while also taking the fan experience into consideration.
OUR PLAN
In formulating our safety and security plan, we identified, negotiated, contracted, deployed, and partnered with leading uniformed security firms, mass event medical providers, video surveillance solutions firms, voice and computer-aided dispatch systems, real-time and open-source intelligence and threat monitoring, and field response and reporting personnel.
Our plan additionally focused on our private-sector partnership with the public-sector law enforcement and first response agencies with jurisdiction over our festival venue. The presence of local law enforcement and fire personnel provided the fans with a sense of safety and security. Lastly, we were fully engaged with the local communities so that we could address any concerns that they would have stemming from noise, traffic, or other disturbances arising from a large event taking place in their community.
OUR OUTCOME
The festival was a sell-out success, with comments posted by the fans regarding their tremendous experience and plans to return next year. Our greatest compliments came from our law enforcement and first response partners, who applauded our professionalism and ability to anticipate and respond to matters as they arose.
