Our Client
We were asked by a private-sector investor client to conduct a comprehensive safety and security assessment of a 300,000-acre desert property for a variety of threats, including illegal growing activity, destruction of the environment, and threats against staff and employees from man-made and natural hazards.
OUR CHALLENGE
The size of the property, difficulty in accessibility due to lack of basic infrastructure and utilities, as well as varying terrain elevation, which hindered access to certain vantage points, and consideration for protected species forced our team to think of unique solutions. This location required answers that were not the ordinary “more guards, walls, and bars.”
OUR PLAN
Our team possessed expertise in a variety of security disciplines, law enforcement, military operations, technical and physical security design, active shooter preparation, threat assessment, and tailored staff training. We toured the property, reviewed current plans and maps, discussed existing policies and procedures, and conducted in-person interviews with key personnel.
We focused our assessment on the property’s unique circumstances, which required a tiered approach to achieving safety and security over an acceptable time period. Our three-tiered approach comprised of staff and personnel security, physical security, and technical security. The technical security tier included recommendations such as IR strobes, night vision optics, and solar-based solutions. As physical, environmental, political, and economic circumstances are subject to change, it was prudent for us to recommend a periodic reassessment of the plan to ensure that our tiered recommendations were meeting client safety and security needs.
OUR OUTCOME
Our client, their investors, the board of directors, and various governmental stakeholders approved and began rolling out our tiered recommendations as they adopted and implemented our safety and security plan. Since the initial rollout, we have continued to consult and remain an integral party to the ongoing improvements on this magnificent environmental landscape.
