Our Client
An international manufacturing company sought our assistance when their team of experts and contractors had to work on a project in Bahrain. At the time, Bahrain was experiencing a series of violent, foreign-funded, anti-government protests aimed at overthrowing the legitimate and internationally respected monarchy of Bahrain. The operating environment and security situation were therefore very fluid. The client team needed to fly into the capital city and reside in-country for an extended period while driving to and from their work site seven days a week.
OUR CHALLENGE
We were tasked with creating a detailed operations plan that addressed multi-layered challenges arising from operating long-term in foreign territory, during a period of hostilities, and while traveling in-country with civilian clients who had no previous security training or experience. Our planning had to address the logistical needs for extended in-country operations as well as the physical threats posed while operating in a high-risk environment.
OUR PLAN
We tailored a detailed operations plan following an in-depth analysis of the risks in our immediate area of operations. This plan entailed the selection and designation of primary and secondary ingress and egress routes to the work site and back to the residence, as well as outings for logistical supplies. Analysis of suitable housing options, evacuation plans, acquisition of real-time intelligence, and use of deployed human intelligence capable of operating in the environment were additional components of our plans. Support from our US-based security operations center during the team’s in-country presence was another key to our success. Our team included experienced discrete operators, tactical medics, geo-political and cultural subject matter experts with local language skills, and personnel with unique hard and soft skills.
OUR OUTCOME
The long hours of planning and anticipating various scenarios allowed us to stay ahead of the fluid security challenges. Our ongoing predictive analysis, on-the-ground human intelligence, and ability to monitor the local and regional media enabled our team to navigate around demonstrations, roadblocks, barricades, and other security challenges. Through these efforts, the client team was able to conduct their activities safely and securely with full confidence that our team was providing them with the best security coverage possible.
Upon successful completion of the first deployment, we were contacted by the client and informed that the client team had specifically requested our team to redeploy with them on the next two planned visits required to complete the client task.
At the conclusion of the three deployments, our team and the client team celebrated the success of these joint operations, and our team was thanked for the exceptional performance.
